This Week's Pondering:
Q: What would happen if you stopped running or chasing?
A: Entering 2024, I've decided to do things differently than I have in the past. Looking back at my life, my past goals and relationships, I've noticed that most of the time, I have either been running away from something (a job I hate, people who aren't treating me kindly, locations I don't want to live, etc.) or chasing something (a goal, a relationship, a new home/car/vacation/diet fad, etc.).
How much time have I wasted by running and chasing these things?
What has happened to all the things that have been in front of me all along? How many precious moments have I missed because of this obsession with things I'm either "lacking" or things I'm "longing"?
This year, I choose DELIGHT.
Delight in the process.
Delight in my relationships.
Delight in my job.
Delight in this moment - even when it's not what I envisioned it would be.
Delight when things don't go as planned, and look around for the surprise instead!
Delight in the presence of what actually is; not try to change anything or hold onto anything.
Delight in NOT running from or chasing anything at all!
Just delight.
