This Week's Pondering:
Q: What do you value most in life, and how do you know that's true?
A: The ability to be present each day.
It’s my birthday week! Forty-five is not a milestone, but it occurred to me that I'm about halfway through this wonderful life, if I'm lucky. This caused me to think about what I'd like the next 45 to be like, so I decided to take a day to reflect on my values.
I can say I value my family, my career, nature, etc; but really, my values show up based on how I choose to spend my time. When I choose to scroll on my phone, what values am I showing myself? When I choose to reach out to someone and have a conversation, what am I showing myself, then?
It’s been an interesting reflection, and has helped me to incur a few small adjustments to my daily flow so that I can touch base with the people and things that matter most to me. Turns out my values are centered around my family, my clients, writing, nature, my animals, and beginning each day with meditation and journaling so I can remain calm and present throughout my day.
